FJ
Very positive trend for Greek exports of fruits and vegetables.
Incofruit Hellas, the Federation of Greek exporting companies, announces that the upward trend continues. During the first five months of 2013, exports of fruits and vegetables increased by +16.3% in volume (528,053 tons) and +21.8% in value (€ 371.1 million) compared the same period in 2012.
Vegetable exports rose by +7.8% in volume with an increase of +27.5% for cucumbers (22 070 tonnes) and +17% for tomatoes (13,039 tonnes). Fruit exports increased by +18.6%, reaching 423,842 tonnes (progression of oranges, mandarins, strawberries, apples, kiwis).
Incofruit Hellas believes that good export performance results from the positive evolution of demand in major EU markets like Germany (+8%) in neighboring countries (Bulgaria, Romania) and in third countries as Russia (+8%).
