The Chilean Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Furche, stressed that China was the main market for Chilean cherry exports. Agricultural exports to China increased by 16% during the 10 months of this year, China became the 2nd export market of Chile and over the next decade will become the No. 1 market.
The Chilean cherry crop coincides with the New Year's Chinese calendar, and Chinese demand for cherries for this period continues to grow. Chile exported more than 103,000 tons of cherries during the 2014-15 season and volumes are still expected to rise this season.
