With the introduction of travel restrictions, Italians have changed their purchasing habits. Changes that could affect the market after the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to data from Monitor Ortofrutta di Agroter, before the crisis a majority of Italians (67.6%) bought fresh fruit and vegetables two or more times a week, now only 32.4% do so.
Another lesson: the frequency of shopping once a week jumped to 43% (21% before the crisis). This result is unheard of since the start of studies where this rate was only 17%.
According to analysts, these new habits, born of an imperative need, could continue after the crisis and should lead the sector to offer sales for suitable formats.
