Pixofarm is an award-winning agriculture technology company based in Vienna, Austria. The application developed by Pixofarm helps farmers count and measure fruits, as well as get accurate yield estimations simply by taking pictures with a smartphone.
Fructidor investigated what to expect from Pixofarm in the near future by interviewing Farid Edrisian, Pixofarm’s CEO.
“We are happy to announce that at the end of October we are launching a beta version of Pixofarm app for citrus fruit and pears, which means that users will be able to obtain data on fruit quantity, fruit sizing and diameter. Another new feature that will be launched this month is called Harvest Bins Scan. With this feature growers can get the fruit count as well as size class distribution of the fruits in a bin after the harvest by just taking one picture from the top of each bin”, comments Edrisian.
“We decided to develop this feature after talking to many growers who told us about its importance. This feature will provide inventory data in real time and will help them optimize storage, packaging, marketing and sales.”
With these updates, Pixofarm will be targeting the Southern Hemisphere countries, such as Australia, New Zealand; South Africa and Chile.
