Tahiti lemon exports value up 90% between January and April 2022

The Tahiti lemon is the third most exported Colombian fruit after bananas and Hass avocados, according to Dane and Procolombia.
Between January and April 2022, Tahiti lemon exports shot up 90% compared to the same period in 2021. Revenues from these supplies almost doubled, totaling $35 million, while last year the figure totaled $18.5 million.
The main destination markets were the United States with $23.6 million (+260%), followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Guadeloupe and Canada.
Part of this increase is due to the opening of the markets of the Dominican Republic this year, and of the UK last year. The other reason was the climatic problems in Mexico that have affected the supply of Mexican producers, mainly in Canada and the US, where price increases have been observed, mainly in organic and high-quality production.
