SIGNIFICANT LOSSES IN THE VINEYARDS OF MANISA BECAUSE OF THE HAIL

The Turkish Minister of Agriculture visited some of 1500 farmers, whose approximately 60 000 hectares of vineyards have been severely affected by the hail at the beginning of the week.

The three affected provinces are known for the production of seedless grapes used for making the famous dried grapes, which are exported to more than 100 different countries.

The damages vary from 10 to 100 percent depending on the vineyards and the Minister of Agriculture assures that the insurance for farmers will compensate it at least partially, while special credit programs could be implemented.

It is not yet clear what impacts this will have on the export of this year.
