Urban farms on the roofs
FJ
In New York there is a growing agricultural production, with urban farms on rooftops.
Since 2008, Gotham Greens urban farm has installed itself on the roofs of a building of the Brooklyn. Gotham Greens produces many varieties of lettuce and herbs in hydroponics in a greenhouse of 1,400 square meters. The greenhouse is powered by solar panels and its information system manages all settings of the crop (humidity, light, power, temperature).
Gotham Greens sells its products to local retailers and restaurateurs, and plans to develop its business with three other greenhouses for cucumbers, strawberries and tomatoes.
