According to data from a market analyst, Peru in 2019 exported blueberries worth $810 million, which allows it to overtake Chile as the world's number one supplier of blueberries.
For Fresh Fruit, an agency specializing in analyzes for the agro-exporting sector, Peru in 2019 exported blueberries for a value of $810 million, far exceeding the $693 million from Chile. Peru would thus be the 1st world supplier of blueberries.
Peru started exporting blueberries in 2008 with small volumes. It was from 2014 that exports experienced a real boom, with annual growth of more than 50%. Now the blueberry is about to become the main exported agricultural product. The difference in value between exports of blueberries (No. 2) and grapes (No. 1) is only $56 million.
Peruvian blueberries are exported mainly to the United States (57%), the Netherlands (22%), China (10%).
