Oppy's Fair Trade Certified produce lineup expands with Peruvian blueberries
Oppy, one of the premier growers, marketers and distributors of fresh produce from around the world expands its Fair Trade Certified produce that they offers since 2004.
An extensive and growing lineup of the group now expends with both conventional and organic blueberries from Peru packed under the Ocean Spray® brand. This is the first time Oppy is marketing Fair Trade Certified organic blueberries from Peru, which will be available from September to December.
James Milne, Oppy’s Senior Vice President, Categories and Marketing, said, “Our group has always been an advocate of produce with purpose, and the addition of organic blueberries to group’s program exemplifies our commitment to communities all along our expansive supply chain. Our work closely mirrors consumer sentiment which indicated that 95% of consumers trust the Fair Trade certification over unverified sustainability claims."
According to an independent third-party survey in 2019, 70% of study participants (consumers) being well aware of the Ocean Spray berry brand, and recognizing the brand as synonymous with top-quality. Oppy expects that complementing of its organic Fair Trade program with Ocean Spray Peruvian blueberry lineup will help to grow by leaps and bounds over previous seasons in the years ahead.
Group's Fair Trade Certified produce also includes Mexican cucumbers and bell peppers, conventional and organic Peruvian grapes, as well as nectarines, mini peppers and tomatoes.
