Tanzania wants to develop its ports in order to export food products to Europe.
The president Jakaya Kikwete wants to make his country the largest regional hub and gateway between East Africa, the region of Great Lakes and South Africa. By developing special economic zones, new infrastructure, more dense rail network and new ports. These projects are estimated at USD 10 billion.
The objective is to increase by +40% the volume of export of ports, especially to European markets. To get closer to European partners, working meetings are planned in Brussels in forthcoming September between the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) and structures such as the Tanzania Hub Transport.
