In Malaysia, the Ministry of Commerce and Consumption has assured that there will be a large quantity of onions on the market, including for the Chinese New Year celebrated on January 25.
India, one of Malaysia's usual onion suppliers, has halted exports due to a severe shortage following floods. Malaysia has turned to its other suppliers and currently imports onions from China, Pakistan and Holland.
The ministry says the onion supply is under control and will be sufficient for the holiday season.
