Peru and Colombia drive strong recovery for Westfalia Fruit’s avocado exports
Westfalia Fruit operates globally — including strong roots in France and wider Europe, where it supplies a broad portfolio of fresh and value-added avocado products.
A rebound in production across Peru and Colombia has pushed Westfalia Fruit’s combined avocado exports to 63,000 tonnes in the 2025 campaign, according to general manager Omar Díaz Marchena. The figure marks a 31% increase from the 48,000 tonnes shipped in 2024, when adverse weather had limited volumes.
Peru led the recovery with 45,000 tonnes, up 36% year-on-year, allowing the company to regain its position as the country’s second-largest avocado exporter. Díaz stressed that this rise reflects normalised yields rather than expansion.
Colombia contributed 18,000 tonnes, a 20% increase supported by stronger output from the company’s 600 hectares of orchards and higher supply from partner growers. Across Peru and Colombia, Westfalia continues to rely heavily on small and medium producers, working with more than 500 growers in Peru and 220 in Colombia.
Westfalia Fruit operates globally — including strong roots in France and wider Europe, where it supplies a broad portfolio of fresh and value-added avocado products. The company is also expanding its processing capabilities. An avocado-oil plant began operating in Cañete in April, and a new frozen-fruit facility in Chiclayo is scheduled to open next June.
