Brazilian fruit exports reach first-half record

Brazil exported 619,100 tonnes of fruit worth US$707.9 million in the first half of 2026, setting a new record for the period, according to the Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas).

Export revenue increased by 20.6% compared with the same period of 2025, while volumes rose by 13.3%. Growth was led by mangoes, apples, avocados and watermelons.

Apple exports recorded the strongest increase, with revenue rising by 223.6% and volume by 225.1%. Abrafrutas linked the result to a record domestic crop following two years of lower production. India remained the main destination for Brazilian apples, followed by Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Mango shipments grew by 38% in volume and 42.4% in value. Avocado exports increased by 92.7% in volume and 72.5% in value, supported by a strong harvest in São Paulo.

Watermelon exports also rose, with volumes up 6.3% and revenue increasing by 30.6%.

However, grape exports fell by around 28% in both volume and value amid uncertainty in the US market. Banana shipments declined by 27.2% in volume, while melon volumes slipped by 2%, although melon revenue rose by 8.2%.

Abrafrutas expects exports to remain strong during the second half of the year as the industry expands into new markets and diversifies its destinations.
