The decision to extend economic sanctions against Russia will undoubtedly have the effect of also extending the Russian embargo on European agricultural products.
The ambassadors of the 28 member countries of the European Union approved the extension for six months until the 31st of January 2017. Final adoption of the decision is expected at the next Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled on 28 and 29 of June in Brussels.
The meeting of Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, with Putin at the recent "Russian Davos" in St. Petersburg has therefore hardly made a difference.
