Argentine fruit growers face August 31 export registration deadline

Argentina’s SENASA has reminded fruit growers in Río Negro and Neuquén that August 31 is the deadline to register or renew their RENSPA status and join fresh-fruit export programmes for Brazil, China, Israel and Canada.

Timing matters because technical and phytosanitary controls required by the destination protocols start in September. These include installation of traps for codling moth (Cydia pomonella) and updates to farm records.

Growers must use the SIGTRAZA traceability system and, for export fruit, validate their documentation at a SENASA office. Changes in orchard blocks, varieties, planting distances or plant numbers also need to be declared because the information is used to estimate yields and calculate trapping requirements.

SENASA said completing registration on time gives farms room to pass inspections and correct problems before commercial shipments begin.
