Increase in value and volume for Spanish exports of Fruits & Vegetables but destinations are not diversified enough.
Although the value and volume of Spanish exports of Fresh Fruits & Vegetables continued to increase in 2017, destinations remained stable: 93% of total shipments to EU countries and 2.5% to non-EU countries, only 4.5% to countries outside Europe.
From January to October 2017 Spanish exports of Fruits & Vegetables grew by 3% to EU countries, 5% to non-EU European countries and only 1% to the rest of the world . Market diversification is therefore one of the sector's priorities for 2018.
Over the period, Switzerland was the 1st European market outside the EU with a turnover of 181 million euros, and Brazil the 2nd market with 79.6 million euros. Very positive developments for exports to Canada (39.8 million euros and + 18%), to Saudi Arabia (47 million euros and + 21%) and to China (21.4 million euros). euros and + 49%).
