Estimated volume similar to last year for Greek kiwi production

Greece is one of the major European countries for kiwifruit production, this year's production is estimated to be at the same level as last year.

 

 

 

According to estimates by Incofruit-Hellas, the Association of Greek Fruit and Vegetable Export Companies, kiwifruit production is expected to reach 270,000 tonnes.

 

 

 

A level equivalent to last year. A reduction, resulting from frost, of about 10% is expected in the regions of Pieria and Arta. The volume will be identical for the Kavala region. The planned decreases will be balanced by the production of the new plantations.

 

 

 

 

 

In the previous season, Greek exports of kiwifruit reached 137 000 tonnes according to data from ELSTAT, the Greek statistical agency.
