Initiative to improve vegetable safety, under test until the end of March.
In order to improve food safety, an experimental vegetable traceability program is being implemented in Ho Chi Minh City.
Since the beginning of the year, vegetables sold in some supermarkets (Co.op, Big C, AEON) have a QR Code label, readable on smartphones. Quality, place of production, packaging site, use of pesticides or fertilizers. These labels are already on 41 types of products, packaged vegetables, from 86 producers.
This experimental program will be under test until the end of March. It responds to the desire to develop and produce safe vegetables. The QR code should then be applied to all Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices certified products in Ho Chi Minh City. Producers in the peri-urban areas of the city must already meet the VietGAP standards.
