German supplier offers unique mushroom assortment all year round

Pilze & Waldfruchte is a specialist in fresh, dried and frozen mushrooms and dried vegetables.

“For fresh mushrooms, our target markets are Germany and Austria, Czech Republic and France. This is because fresh mushrooms are really sensitive and have a rather short life. Our dried and frozen mushrooms we supply to customers all over the world.”, says Lisa Niklas, International Sales Manager.

“Our main products are wild mushrooms such as Chanterelles and Boletus, but we also have seasonally less known mushrooms, such as Black Trumpets and Pied de Mouton. We offer our wild mushrooms all year round: European Boletus in spring and autumn, and during the winter months we have Boletus from South Africa. In our assortment, you will find Eryngii, Shiitake as well as Enoki, Shimeji, and much more. We aim to develop and offer unique products which are not on the market yet. ”, continues the manager.

“Our main clients are wholesalers and retailers. In all of our segments (fresh, dried and frozen) we have different packaging sizes for Cash & Carry as well as supermarkets, discounters etc. For both segments, we develop new products including mushrooms mixes, standard ones and also according to the customer's requests. For the retail market, we also offer "Family Box" composed of small and big Eryngii mushrooms. In all of our assortment, we have a stable, very high-quality level, which is often difficult with products that grow naturally. ”

“Now, we are in the middle of Chanterelles season. It has started pretty good in the Balkan region. Nevertheless, the Russia-Ukraine war is very restricting to our business, because before most Chanterelles were from Russia and Belarus. Now these two origins are eliminated, and we have to hope for a good crop in the remaining countries.”
