M. Denis Extrait, President of the Association ADAVS fought against the decree of the Prefecture forcing the removal of all contaminated orchards.
In 2008, following the spread of the "charka" parasite which attacks peach and apricot trees, the local government of the Drôme issued an order that required removing any orchard that was contaminated with 5% of affected trees.
The rate for other regions was set at 10%, which led to the anger of producers. The ADAVS
association sued against the decision. On May 31, while some producers still have not touched the aid for removing orchards, the Administrative Court of Grenoble canceled the order.
The state has not seen fit to appeal against this decision so on 20 July the judgment became final. The president of ADAVS Denis Extrait is now asking for for damages caused by the decree.
