Particularly in view around October 31 at each Halloween party, the pumpkin is a vegetable whose exports are doing well and which achieved an increase in value of + 18.7% compared to 2019 and + 33.7%. over 5 years.
According to Worldstopexports.com, pumpkin exports in 2020 totaled 1.6 billion USD, an increase in value of + 18.7% compared to 2019 and an increase of + 33.7% over 5 years.
In 2020 the top 5 pumpkin exporters were Mexico (551.4 million USD), Spain (502.4 million USD), the United States (66.8 million USD), the Netherlands (63, $ 6 million) and New Zealand ($ 52.6 million). The market is concentrated: these 5 countries together accounted for 77.1% of the total value of pumpkins sold on international markets, and the share rises to 93.9% when taking into account 10 additional countries.
The fastest growing pumpkin exports since 2019 were made by South Africa (+ 54.7%), Mexico (+ 29.9%), New Zealand (+ 28.1%) and Spain (+ 23.5%).
Only 2 supplier countries posted declines in their international pumpkin sales: Morocco (-24.1%) and Germany (-5.6%).
