CMA CGM predecessor of " big data " in transport

The CMA CGM Group announced that the CMA CGM BOUGAINVILLE, new flagship of the Group's fleet becomes the first container carrier in the world to carry "smart" containers.

The CMA CGM BOUGAINVILLE, new flagship (18,000 TEU), which opened at the beginning of this month is the first ship in the world with the TRAXENS technology. This technology transforms smart containers, connected objects. Containers equipped with TRAXENS box and can communicate with each other and with the ship masts. All collected information is then sent to the headquarters of CMA CGM in Marseille.

TRAXENS system can collect real-time information (position, temperature variations, humidity, vibration, shock ...) throughout the container transport on land and at sea, useful both to the company transportation, and its customers, insurance companies or customs. These boxes can control and adjust, distance, temperature refrigerated containers and will also eventually allow to reduce the time of inspection of reefer.

CMA CGM has positioned itself as a forerunner in the field of "Big Data" as applied to transport and provide clients with unique solutions for monitoring and collecting information in real time anywhere in the world.
