Mr Woradech Chaiworapoj, and his wife on fructidor.com booth to explain the lattest trends in Thailand import market.
In addition to import, the company operates also in distribution and cold storage with a hundred containers capacity. Total sales in 2006 reached US $ 170 million, an every year growing figure.
Met on fructidor.com booth in HK, Mr Woradech Chaiworapoj, General Manager, explains that main sources countries are China and USA for a total import of 590 containers last year.
Concerning Chinese imports, main prodcts imported are apples and pears. Other origins include : Spain, Japan, Korea, India, New Zeland…
As Mr Chaiworapoj stated :
« Main problem in Thailand today is the political problem. If government unstability goes on, there is a risk of fruit consumption slow down !
There has been a drop in foreign investment in the last months, followed by the same trend from local investors, both do not trust the government.
Without this crisis, fruit consumption would meet a double-digit increase every year !
