Hail hits the main area of production of apricots

A layer of hailstones has held the orchards of the main producing region of apricots in Turkey
Malatya, the main producing region of apricots, has been hit by hail.
Last Wednesday, a violent hailstorm, lasting about 20 mm, hit the area of Hekimhan. Covering orchards with a layer of hailstones and damaging the trees that had already green fruits.
This region is the area of production of fresh and dried apricots from Turkey and no one knows yet what will be the consequences for the coming season. Farmers who were insured have already applied for compensation to TARSIM, the national agency of agricultural insurance.
