Zespri has improved its sales in China
Zespri has reported its results, the perspectives of the Chinese market bring a little optimism.
Net income of Zespri has decreased this year, passing from 16 to 10,7 million NZ $. Main reasons: the incurred expenses to fight against the disease PSA and legal problems in China. Zespri was condemned to pay a fine of 1 million $ for non-payment of customs duties. Zespri has changed its management team that operated in China and its import partners.
Over the past year Zespri has sold over 10 million trays of kiwifruit in China, 10% more than the previous year. In value terms, sales rose 20%, reaching $ 117 million.
Currently the challenge is to follow the demand, one of the leaders confessed "Our main problem in China today is that we are lack of volume."
