Peru ranks among top açaí exporters after 4 years of rapid growth

Peru’s açaí industry is experiencing remarkable growth, with production rising by over 200% annually in recent years.
Peru’s açaí production has maintained steady growth, recording an average annual increase of 213.7% over the past four years, according to local media. This strong performance highlights the country’s potential to establish itself as a key global supplier of healthy, value-added products derived from this Amazonian fruit.
Within Peru, production is mainly concentrated in the regions of Loreto, Ucayali, San Martín, and Madre de Dios, which offer ideal climatic conditions for sustainable cultivation.
In 2024, Peruvian açaí exports reached 313.1 tonnes, marking a 149.6% increase compared to the previous year. This growth positions Peru as an emerging player in the international trade of this superfood.
Among the top destinations, Chile accounted for 68% of total exports, followed by the United States with 13.6%. Additionally, 15 other countries together represented 17.7%, reflecting Peru’s growing market diversification and global reach for açaí-based products.
