ECUMED, the new direct link between Ecuador, Europe and Russia will rapidly receive the nickname "Banana Express"
Maersk Line has announced ECUMED - a new link directly connecting Latin America to the Black Sea.
The Weekly service provides the best transit time linking Ecuador, Spain, Turkey and the Black Sea. Investment in this new service was prompted by customer demand for the fast and reliable transport of fruit, especially bananas from Ecuador to Europe and Russia.
The service will deploy eight vessels with 2500 TEUs on the following route: Guayaquil
- Balboa - Manzanillo - Algeciras - Izmit Korfezi - Ambarli - Novorossiysk, Odessa - Ambarli - Izmit Korfezi - Algeciras - Balboa, Guayaquil.
The first departure west will be to Algeciras, Spain on September 25 and the first east to Guayaquil, Ecuador on October 4.
