Gaza's strawberries arrive on the European market
Flowers and strawberries, the main agricultural resources of Gaza, are the only exports that go through its borders.
While in 2008 the exports were completely stopped, next year, some few authorizations of exports have been permitted for producers.
The situation seems to be better and since january, weekly transit authorizations have been allowed.
So the strawberries producers start again, after having stopped exports for two years. Since december, 40 tons of strawberries were able to be exported and the producers estimate to be able to export 300 tons before the end of February. The volume can reach 750 tons if the borders were completely opened.
Gaza's strawberries leave towards Europe, via Israël, by the way of the israelian company Agrexco that distrbutes them in Europe.
