Wet weather and the arrival of spring seems to have accelerated the spread of the disease in the kiwifruit orchards of New Zealand.
Concern has risen in New Zealand, where the PSA disease continues to increase and ravage kiwifruit orchards.
The disease is spreading rapidly and, after touching the important producing region of Bay of Plenty, it is now 50 km south of Auckland. Suspected cases in Pukekohe orchards are being tested.
Wet weather and the arrival of Spring seems to have accelerated the spread of the disease. At national level, there are 689 infected orchards, according to the Kiwifruit Vine Health, amounting to 20% of orchards New Zealand.
