Costa Rican avocado could enter the Italian market in the coming months

The Costa Rican Hass avocado could reach the Italian market in the coming months, after the Coopey Agricultural Industrial Fruit Producers Cooperative sent the first samples to this market. This is the fruit grown in Dota, Tarrazú and León Cortés.

 

At the end of last August, 40 kilos of Costa Rican avocado with sizes of 150-240 grams were shipped, which are currently in transit and are expected to arrive in Italy in mid-September.

 

According to Johanna Chanto Vargas, manager of the Cooperative, at present, imported avocados do not allow them to be competitive at the national level in terms of price due to the country's high production costs, but in terms of quality they do exceed imported avocados, so , they must diversify to offer a better price to the producer.
