PotatoEurope 2022 will take place September 7-8 at the Rittergut Bockerode estate near Hannover, Germany. More than 200 exhibitors and around 10,000 professional visitors are expected.
The event offers producers and companies in the upstream and downstream sectors all the useful information for the production and processing of potatoes. In addition to this technical offer, the event includes a large area of test plots and demonstrations of machinery for planting, harvesting, loading and mechanical weeding.
The Rittergut Bockerode estate has already hosted PotatoEurope in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018. Located about 30 km south-west of the center of Hanover, the site is connected, via a shuttle and a local train, to the Hannover- Hauptbahnhof and Hannover-Langenhagen International Airport making it easy to travel from outside Germany.
In Germany, the potato is grown on more than 27,000 farms which combine an area of approximately 270,000 hectares (2020 data). On average, Germany produces 10 to 11 million tonnes of potatoes per year, making it the largest potato producer in the EU. The sector generates an added value estimated at more than EUR 3 billion per year thanks to the sale of 3 main segments: food, industrial and seed potatoes.
