Met during Fresh Market in Poland, General Director of Jan Oskam BV Kees Oskam shares with us some market trends.
“We have good pear crop this year, although this season was dry in our area. Thanks to good quality water together with drip irrigation, it was not a problem to get good sizes for pears: 70+ for Conference and 80+ for Lukas pears. We are satisfied and think this will be profitable season for pear business,” – explains Kees Oskam.
Company sells pears all over Europe: from Norway to Malta and from Canary Islands to Estonia. According to Mr. Oskam conference pears season this year has started for his company around 15th of August, 2018 and he thinks they will have this sort at least till 15th
“Apples season this year will be difficult in all Europe. There are many apples in all sizes, qualities, so we are happy that our main focus is pears,” – smiles Kees.
“Just some days ago in September we have finished new building 3700 m2. Brand new calibrating machinery and packing lines for both pears and apples were installed. Capacity is 80 000 kg a day. So we expect a lot from this season”, - finishes Mr. Oskam.
