The Greek kiwi has found a new export market

In Greece, after the protocol signed with China for the export of kiwi, another export market has just approved its entry, Thailand.

 

 

 

According to the announcement of the Greek government, the Thai Ministry of Agriculture has approved the export of kiwifruit from Greece.

 

 

 

The announcement follows a visit by a Thai delegation to inspect kiwifruit plantations, particularly in the prefectures of Thessaloniki, Imathia and Pieria, as well as the sorting and packing sites. The delegation then met with the Greek Phytosanitary Services to confirm the import requirements in Thailand.

 

 

 

Greece is now the 3rd or 4th largest kiwifruit producer in the world. According to official data, for the period 2017-18 the country produced 274,619 tons and exported 154,843 tons of kiwifruit.
