Fruits, vegetables, citrus fruits : Morocco will take advantage of the European production decline.decline
In Europe, cold decreased the potential of production, and according to the producer association of fruits and vegetables (APFEL) from Morocco, this solution could take advantage for morocco‘s exportations.
The association wish to export 50 % of volume which includes 300 000 tons for all types of varieties (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers) from January to March 2010.This is the volume normally exported for a year on the European Union market.
The producers of Moroccans citrus fruits hope to supply Spain whom the exportable production fell down of 6 to 7% for clementine and 15% for oranges. Spain is exporting at the present and yearly 3.50 millions of tons against 500 000 to 600 000 for Morocco.
The ministry of agriculture plans a production of 1.41 million of tons for the current campaign, 10% more than next year.
This volume includes oranges (775 000 tons), small fruits (581 000 tons) and others citrus fruits (56 000 tons) for Morocco. Global exportations must reached 552 000 tons, let be an increased of 7%.
