Banana production is rising again

After multiple typhoons that had seriously affected production of bananas , figures released for the 3rd quarter are encouraging.

PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority ) announces that banana production totaled 2.33 million tons in Q3 2015. This is an increase of almost 3 % compared to the 2.27 million tonnes produced in the same period last year.

PSA emphasizes the harvests increase in several regions ( Central Luzon , Davao , Mindanao ) and a return of production capacity in other ( Calabarzon , Bicol ) .

Concerning the revenue of these exports : decline for the period January / June with 241.78 million dollars against 684.09 million dollars the previous year. Decreased in volume also : only 748,160 tonnes this year against 1.99 million tons in 2014.
