Saint Charles International organizes donations of Fruits & Vegetables for nursing staff

Saint Charles members offer Fruits and Vegetables which are distributed to the nursing staff of the Perpignan hospital.
Under the impetus of several companies on the platform, the idea of centralizing fruit and vegetable donations intended for nursing staff was validated by the permanent working group set up in Saint-Charles for crisis management related to Coronavirus.
The Saint Charles International platform has been organizing since Wednesday 08 April the operation "VITAMINS FOR CAREGIVERS AGAINST COVID-19!" " This operation aims to make "baskets" of fruits and vegetables from donations made and harvested every Tuesday from members of the National Union of Importers / Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables - Saint-Charles.
The distribution of these "baskets" to the nursing staff is carried out at the hospital site every Wednesday. The 1st collection made it possible to distribute, on Wednesday 08 April, 1,188 kilos of fresh fruit and vegetables in the form of 360 baskets weighing between 2.6 and 3.6 kilos. This operation, renewed on Wednesday April 15, 2020, allowed the distribution of 360 baskets of fruits and vegetables. 1,413 kilos of fresh fruit and vegetables were distributed, with a few parcels brought in for bulk distribution (orange fillets, salads, broccoli, arugula, cherry tomatoes, etc.).
Each basket is made up of a varied assortment of fruits and vegetables, including: avocados, lemons, oranges, clementines, pomelo, zucchini, pears, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, grapes, salads, fennel, red peppers, green peppers, melons , potatoes, onions, blueberries, raspberries, flat beans, artichokes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peppers, carrots, mushrooms. A third distribution will take place on Wednesday April 22.
The Saint-Charles platform is honored, through these various distributions, to be able to contribute, even in a modest way, to the fight against this virus and to the support of the teams at the Center Hospitalier de Perpignan. This operation, made possible by the contribution of a multitude of companies, shows the strength of the collective as the resilience of the managers and employees of the platform in the face of this crisis.

The platform is located in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), turnover is 1.95 billion euros, the volume processed is 1,768,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables. The flows are mainly of Mediterranean origin.
