Growth of +48% in value for Thai fruit exports

According to data from the Global Trade Atlas, fruit exports in 2021 totaled USD 6.2 billion, an increase of +48% in value compared to the previous year. Thailand is the world's 7th largest fruit exporter.

 

This spectacular increase can be explained by new consumer trends. At the time of the pandemic but also afterwards, the desire of consumers for a healthier diet led to an increase in the consumption of fruits and fruit juices.

 

Thailand produces and exports many fruits, such as the durian which is appreciated throughout Asia, and the mangosteen. But also dozens of varieties of mangoes, pomelos, coconuts, longan, tamarind

 

In addition to fresh fruits, Thailand also exports canned fruits, frozen fruits, juices (pineapple, mango, guava, orange). In 2021, the country was the 8th largest exporter of fruit juices in the world, with a turnover of 630 million USD, or +13% compared to the previous year.
