India is importing onions from Pakistan
India must now import onions from Pakistan to face the shortage in its domestic market.
Poor harvests have resulted in soaring prices, which forced the Indian government to suspend exports of Indian onions.
This is the first time that onions are imported from Pakistan. The first shipment included 15 trucks with 13 tons which should supply the markets of Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar Delhi.
However, according to an independent India organization, there would be enough stock in the country.
The real damage due to rain would only affect production only of 15 to 20%.
