Organized by the Union Interprofessionnelle de la Chestnut du Sud-Ouest associated with INTERCO, AREFLH and local producer associations, the 11th edition of the European Chestnut Days took place on October 1st and 2nd. The event brought together 180 chestnut producers, marketers and processors from France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary and Portugal.
The event is an opportunity for meetings and exchanges between players in the European sector. Priority has been placed this year on sharing the experiences of producers with visits to 3 farms located in the departments of Corrèze and Haute-Vienne.
Another highlight of the event: the Tech-Chestnuts trade fair. For the 1,000 visitors present, the Tech-Chestnuts show brought together many services and equipment suppliers, thus offering producers a showcase of the tools at their disposal for optimized and quality production. Including presentations of pruning, weeding and mechanical harvesting equipment.
These European Chestnut Days will continue on the Internet on October 21 and 22, 2021 (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) with an international webinar on harvest forecasts, market prospects, as well as a technical session on diseases and pests in different production areas in Europe. The webinar will be available in 5 languages: French, Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese.
