Mango exports from the Piura region (Peru) to the Chilean market, so far in the 2022/23 campaign, total 1,986 tons, says the National Service of Agrarian Health (Senasa).
In 2022, the interception of two lawsuits in the deliveries of Peruvian mango led to the temporary suspension of the Chilean market for this fruit.
However, thanks to Senasa’s efforts, it was possible to continue exporting mango to Chile, after organizing technical negotiations and bilateral meetings, as well as developing a plan of corrective measures, such as the application of hydrometric treatment.
78% of total shipments of Peruvian mango correspond to the Kent variety, followed by Haden (18%), Ataulfo (2%), and 2% between Edward, Tommy Atkins and Keit.
