Spar opens in the UAE

By opening its first supermarket in Abu Dhabi, the Spar chain has entered the Middle East market and plans to rapidly expand.

The store is located in Abu Dhabi’s Khalidiya business district. It offers more than 20,000 products, a large range of fresh produce, and aims to provide freshness, quality and service.

The opening in Abu Dhabi is part of the global expansion strategy of Spar International, which now operates in 35 countries. By 2015, Spar wants a more significant presence in the region, not only in the UAE but also in other Gulf countries.

The chain plans to open new stores in 2012. Its goal is to have nine stores, hypermarkets and supermarkets, operational by the end of 2013.
