The current plum season in Chile stands out for the increases in exports to North America, compared to 2022.
Although the season for other stone fruit species, such as apricots, is over, the supply of plums remains constant, reports from ASOEX.
Through week 10, plum shipments to the US and Canada totaled 17,745 tons (1,971,652 boxes). This translates into a 50% increase compared to the same term of the previous season.
The leading varieties are Angeleno, Larry Ann, Pink Delight, Candy Red and Black Kat.
As far as d'Agen plums go, 99% of them go to Asia. Through week 10, Chile has shipped 114 tons to North America.
In general terms, the largest recipient of Chilean plums until week 10 continues to be China, receiving 38% of the total shipments, although deliveries to this country decreased by 20% compared to the same period in 2022.
