A pause in the progression of world potato production

World production of potatoes fell 1.5% in 2018 according to figures released by UN Food & Agriculture Organization.

 

 

 

According to figures published by the UN Food & Agriculture Organization, world potato production reached 368.247 million tonnes in 2018. This represents a decline of 1.5%.

 

 

 

This stagnation in production is explained by the surface area figures which were passed on to the production figures. According to initial data, UN FAO had estimated the increase in areas at 19 million hectares but the real increase was only 17.5 million hectares, a reduction of 7.9% compared to last year.
