The 12th edition of the World Potatoes Congress will be held in 2023 in Adelaide, Australia (Photo: sciences.adelaide.edu.au).
Adelaide has been chosen as the host city of the 2023 World Potato Congress. This will be the first time that this world-class event will be held in Australia.
Adelaide's choice as the WPC's host city is the worldwide recognition of the importance of the South Australia region in the potato sector. The South Australia region produces more than 500,000 tonnes of potatoes a year and 80% of the country's fresh potatoes.
Since its inception in 1993, the World Potato Congress has been held 10 times, the 1st Congress was held in Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island, Canada), then in England, South Africa, the Netherlands, China, in the USA, New Zealand, Scotland, Peru in 2018 and will take place in Dublin, Ireland in 2021.
