With a growing success among the public, the operation "Open Ochard 2017" counts this year 52 orchards to discover.
Each year, the National Association Pommes Poires organizes a weekend, "Open Ochards" operations. This is an opportunity for the apple growers, eco-responsible to introduce their craft, their passion to the general public, and to explain their production ethic through the eco-responsible orchards approach.
It also allows them to discover how they preserve biodiversity in orchards, and how nature helps them to produce beautiful, tasty, and healthy fruits.
Organized around an educational path led by the apple grower, this event often offers free picking, tastings of apples, apple juice and other specialties, workshops for children or even meetings with beekeepers.
According to the regions, the orchards will open this year on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of September or the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of September. This year, 52 orchards will participate in the operation on 29 departments.
