The country has the capacity to feed more than 2 billion people, the entire African continent.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a country as vast as Western Europe and its agricultural potential remains largely untapped.
International bodies estimate that more than 800 000 km2 of agricultural land is not used. In addition, global warming which will threaten global agricultural production in the future, could have small impacts in the DRC.
"The DRC has vast territories, both north and south of the equator. Throughout the year, the country can benefit from the rainy season. Unlike other African countries, the DRC is the only one to be resilient to climate change, "says Alexis Bonte, country representative at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
