The new refrigerated storage facility will permit to fruit and vegetables to be marketed and consumed for more days than before
Local authorities and members of the Herat Provincial Reconstruction Team opened a new refrigerated storage facility in Guzara District, south of Herat.
The facility will benefit residents who otherwise have nowhere to store their fresh fruit and vegetables.
The harvests are a primary source of income for locals who use the fruit and vegetables to trade and maintain their livelihood.
The completed facility will help preserve crops that, until now, had to be marketed or consumed in a very short time.
The local authorities are attended the inauguration of the facility which will provide a measurable improvement in the living conditions of the inhabitants of Guzara and also support the province agri-food production.
