EARTH DAY OVERSHOOT

We reach Earth Overshoot Day today, a date which means that the ecological footprint of humanity exceeds the ecological capacity of the Earth.
The date is calculated by the American organization GLOBAL FOOTPRINT NETWORK, creator of the Ecological Footprint concept. This "day of tolerance" will illustrate the difference between the consumption / demand for resources / environmental services and the actual capacity of our planet to provide. In less than 8 months earthlings have exhausted the capacity of the Earth to reproduce natural resources and to absorb the CO2 emitted during the rest of the year, global consumption will increase the ecological deficit and draw on natural resources stocks increasing a little accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere.
This threshold exceeding happens every year, a little earlier: in 1970 it was December 23, 1980 November 3, 1990 October 13, 2000 October 4, 2010 on 28 August. This year, August 8th.
To reverse the trend and reduce overexploitation we would need to adjust our consumption to the capacity of the planet. Among the proposed solutions, a radical change in our diet would limit our consumption of meat to always favor more Fruits & Vegetables.
