Dunkerque's harbour strengthens its partnership with the West Indian planters

Dunkerque is the first French harbour for imports in containers fruits.
After twelve years of partnership between Guadeloupe and Martinique for the refrigerated transport for bananas, Dunkerque's harbour and the Guadeloupe & Martinique Union Groupment of Bananas Producers (UGPBAN) wished to strengthens their partnership through a signature of a new charter.
Combining vocational field, this document have been signed during the commercial mission in The Antilles in the middle of January 2010.
This charter plans, in particular, to insure a guaranty of quality during the operation of unloading of bananas in Dunkerque; and it also wants to make progress in sustainable development.
A demonstration will have place soon with the signatories and the UGPBAN president, Mr Eric de Lucy in Dunkerque.
Third French harbour, Dunkerque is also the first French port for the exports of fruits in containers. Banana represents a yearly tonnage of around 300 000 tons for Dunkerque’s Harbour.
