Canary banana closes 1st quarter with higher shipments

Increase in the volume of bananas shipped from the Canary Islands to the Spanish market (Spain, Baleares).
Satisfactory balance sheet in the first quarter of 2018 for Canary Island bananas whose volumes shipped to the Spanish market rose by 11,216 tonnes.
According to the official data (Administración de Aduanas and Impuestos Especiales de la Agencia Tributaria) concerning foreign trade: in March 2018 the Canary Islands sent 41,750 tons of bananas to the Spanish market (Spain, Balearic Islands). That's 21% more than in the month of February.
For the first three months of 2018, the total volume of banana shipments from the Canary Islands to the Spanish market reached 164,722 tons, 4,001 tons more than in the first quarter of 2017.
In March 2018, the Spanish market received 41,750 tonnes of bananas from the Canary Islands and 27,792 tonnes of bananas from Africa and Latin America. Re-exports amounted to 9,558 tonnes, resulting in a total available supply of 59,984 tonnes of bananas that month.
